Repairing mobile devices using soldering is still very useful cost saving techniques, when you need to move soldered parts from one device to another. But what are the issues and hidden pitfall when using soldering? Some issues that you have while soldering repair are that you do not have the right tools. If you do not have the right tools obviously you will run into problems and issues because of the fact that you do not have the tool you need in order to repair the problem or you are using a wrong tool for the purpose of something when you are supposed to be using a different one. If you are using a wrong tool you might mess something else up in regards to the device you are working on and have a completely different problem. You want to move forward in your repair not backwards, make more work for yourself, or lose more money in regards to getting another replacement part. Make sure you soldering iron and heat gut have enough power to liquify the metal. Set the temperature at the right level for the device you are working on and increase it, if you don’t see the metal being liquified within 20 seconds. Another issue that you run into while doing soldering repair might be not using enough or using too much of your soldering supplies. For example using too much flux, iron, or heat. Or not enough of each one of these. Using not enough flux will make it harder to get the piece you want to put on get connected back to the motherboard....

Soldering Techniques or Soldering The Art

Mobile device repairs are not always the easy snap clips and small screws they can be made out to be. Sometimes there is a piece that is attached on the main board that needs changed out. It has been seen where a motor for the vibration has wires soldiered directly on the main board. What do you do to fix your phone? You need remove the connections without ruining the main board! A couple techniques to fixing these kind of repairs are quite challenging but may be rewarding if you can properly use them. One of my favorite techniques is the indirect heat technique. This technique requires some tools before you can just jump right in to it. You will need an adjustable heat gun capable of switching temperatures on the fly based on the kind of soldier the company used. You will also need a pair of helping hands. No those are not a friends hands. Helping hands are a pair of metal clips that have a weighted base. By using helping hands it will keep your hands and fingers from being burnt from the heat that your heat gun is producing. You will need a couple nice pairs of needle nose pliers preferably with rubber heat resistant handles. Last last two things are soldier and some flux. Those two will be used when attaching your new part to the main board. We used this technique above to practice in class. I have never done soldering in that way before. I thought it was going to take a very long time to heat it up because you are...
Ensuring Proper workspace for mobile device repair

Ensuring Proper workspace for mobile device repair

The chances for accurate work made easier are greatly improved with proper preparations.  It is quite necessary to ensure that you have all the proper tools and availability to resources that will be necessary for the completion of the task. When working with others’ personal property, you are being entrusted to take care of that property.  When it comes to mobile phones of today, some people’s livelihood, both personal and professional, are invested in their phones.  Today’s technology allows for fairly simple back-up of data that may be stored on someone’s smart phone.  However, there should still be great efforts made to protect data and carefully handle the electronic components when making repairs. It stand to reason then, that care should be taken to make sure the workspace used for the task is adequate to ensure careful work habits and procedures.  Just a few conditions to consider might be:         Adequate space         Adequate lighting         Surface material         Temperature/humidity         Grounding There may be other factors to consider that will help the job along… you may want to ensure that you reduce distractions while working; like turning off your own cell phone; turning off the TV; inform others that you wish not to be disturbed for a time; maybe you work better listening to music, or maybe a quiet atmosphere… whatever things will help you remain sharp and focused. Mobile phones are made up of many very small components; and once you begin disassembly, you want to keep track of these tiny components.  So, it is extremely important to be organized and to have adequate space and light to help you stay organized....
