How to deal with water damages as part of laptops, ultrabook and mobile device repair.

Accidental water spillage on mobile devices can be one of the most demoralizing experiences. Hopefully, if this happens to you there are series of steps you can take to save your device. The following steps are intended to save mobile devices from water damage but not coffee, milk or juice. Sugary liquids often leave behind solid residue, which complicates the situation. If this is the case, you should still follow these steps to dry the mobile device as a part of its repair. The process is the same whether the mobile device is a laptop, tablet…. Step 1: Turn off your device immediately by holding the power button. Note: If you don’t turn off the device immediately more components will be affected and the damages will be more complicated to resolve since deeper part of the device will be affected.  Step 2: If the device is connected to an AC adapter, make sure the surrounding area is dry. Subsequently, disconnect the power cord from the outlet. Step 3: Pull out the battery Step 4: Tilt the device at an angle to discourage liquid from reaching deeper parts. (For most spills this may mean to flip the device upside down, but use your own judgment). Step 5: Dry the device with paper towels in all reachable wet areas. Step 6: Two methods can be used to dry mobile devices internal parts. Method 1: The method  1 consist of immersing the device in dry, uncooked rice in a sealed container or plastic bag. Method 2:  Place the device in a dry location. The moisture should leave the device naturally Note: For better result you can obviously use  both methods.   Step 7: Never...

Milwaukee to Madrid

Have you ever thought of getting away,  going on an exciting adventure, and experiencing a different way of life?  One place to consider is the city of Madrid in Spain.  This is the largest city in Spain with a population of three million.  Here you will experience a vibrant culture and interesting people. While visiting Madrid, you will experience all types of artistic and intellectual activity as well as great ethnic food.  Also, if you enjoy shopping there are plenty of places to spend lots of money.  Make sure to pack a translation dictionary or download an app.  The main language in Madrid is Spanish but you may also find people speaking Catalan, Galician and Basque in different areas of Madrid.   How to prepare The first step on planning a trip to go overseas is making sure you have all the correct paperwork and documents filled out. The two things you’re going to need are a passport and a state id or driver’s licence.  If you don’t have these you can get a passport at the post office for around $150 and a ID costs around $20. After you have all those squared away you will want to set a date when your going and then returning.  Make sure you prepare for the long flight.  Especially because flying to Madrid from Milwaukee takes almost 14 hours.  I planned my trip by going on Kayak.com to find my plane tickets, hotel and transportation.  You can also find places to stay and transportation options on there as well.   What will my trip cost? When looking at different airlines I...

Differences between Windows 7 and Windows 10 for Enterprise Support Users

The Information Week article called, “Windows 10: Microsoft Attempts A SaaS Model” by Larry Loeb explains that a key change in Windows 10 Enterprise is that Microsoft will no longer be charge per license. Instead Microsoft will charge per device to accommodate growth, the cloud and mobility sectors. In addition, an Information Week article called “Windows 10 Vs. Windows 7: What Enterprise IT Needs To Know” by Curtis Franklin explains how Windows 10 Enterprise differs in comparison to Windows 7 Enterprise and other versions. Windows 10 as a Service is a feature that is included in Windows 10 Enterprise. The purpose of WAaS is to simplify the process of upgrading and updating. I think that there has to be some accommodations made, especially because security threats constantly evolve. Microsoft has to develop solutions which may involve totally new builds and operating systems. Those upgrades have to be pushed to servers and individual users. So economically I understand how a per-user charge would be more suitable, compared to collective usage charges. An article called “Battery Saver” on Microsoft’s Hardware Dev Center website explains that the Battery Saver feature will automatically activate when the device percentage falls below 20%. Battery Saver also prevents applications from running in the background and it limits other application activity, to limit consumption of battery usage while the battery level is below 20%. An article listed on Microsoft’s Windows IT Center called, “Power Management for Network Devices in Windows 7” explains that there are features that can be configured to manage power on a network. For example the Low Power on Media Disconnect feature places the...
