How to use formulas in Microsoft excel

First, we will start with a simple addition formula. In cell A4 I have the number 10 and in cell A5 I have the number 5. To add these numbers together and place them in cell A6 or any cell of your choosing you want to go to cell A6 (in this example) and type =A4+A5 this is telling Excel that cell A6 will be the result of cell A4 plus cell A5. After you type =A4+A5 press the enter key and the result will appear in cell A6. Now, subtraction. Suppose you want to subtract cell A5 from A4 and put the result in cell A6. In cell A6 Type = and then type A4-A5 and press enter. The subtracted total will appear in cell A6 Next, we will do a multiplication in Excel. To multiple cell A4 times A5 and place the answer in Cell A6 type = cell A6 followed by A4*A5 then press enter.   The answer appears in cell A6 Next, we will do a formula by pointing using the example below. Type = in cell A5. Using the arrows keys or the mouse, move the cell pointer to cell A3, type the multiplication operator (*) Next move the cell pointer to A4 Press Enter and the result will be displayed in cell A5.
