Preparing for an Interview

Preparing for an Interview By: Joshua Milosz   The first thing you will want to do is do research on the company you applied for. Knowing the company will make it easier to figure out what questions they will ask. You will also want to make sure you look up interview questions you will get pretty basic questions popping up but if you want to get the full experience look up common IT support interview questions. They will be very impressed if you have IT knowledge off hand.  After you write down some practice questions have a friend or family member to ask you those questions and ask them to implement some of their own questions. The more questions the better you will also want to practice eye contact. I know it can be nerve racking keeping eye contact the whole interview, but you will want to keep eye contact it shows them you are confident and professional. You will want to practice using good and clear proper grammar the employer will not hire you if you are illiterate and use slang and abbreviation you have to use proper grammar. You will want to write a resume as well and make sure to put a lot of information about you and again use proper grammar it is very important. Make sure to put all of your achievements for example if you were on the honor roll, when and where you graduated, your major you are working on or have and your certifications. You will want to be very confident and in control during an interview if you are shaking...

Negotiating Salary and Benefits

Negotiating Salary and Benefits     The main things you need to look at before taking a job is how much they are willing to pay you and what benefits they will offer you. Some IT jobs are contract jobs meaning you will be put on a contract for a period of time usually a year in which you will work for that company. Most contract jobs don’t offer any sort of benefits because you are possibly a temporary worker. The main benefit of a contract job is you will make a lot more money than you would with working for a big company. Working for a big company is always the safer way to go you will have good benefits with good pay. You won’t make as much as when you are on a contract job, but you will have good benefits. You will most likely have benefits like healthcare and a retirement fund. Most IT support specialists on average make 20-23 dollars an hour so when looking for a job when you have experience look for something in between. The most important benefits would be healthcare and a retirement fund. When negotiating pay do your research on what the average your major makes after that you will probably be applying for other jobs as well to see who will give you the best offer. When telling them what wage you want always go higher than what you actually want always to start high but not too high. When you start off high, they will most likely say no and lower it and meet you in the middle....

How to Complete Job Application and Skills Tests

How to Complete Job Application and Skills Tests   By Joshua Milosz   To apply for a job is an easy thing to do you have to fill out a form that asks information about you. Sometimes it can get personal like if you have a criminal record and your address. Typical applications usually only ask general questions like what job you are applying for and what position or your address and full name. Usually you will need to put down your full name your address, your city and state, your other employers name and contact information. Filling out an application is basic the only hard thing to do is ask one of your old bosses or teachers if you could use them as a reference. Usually you want at least two, but I’d go for five to impress the employer. When you are choosing references always choose people who liked you and respected you. You don’t want to put an old boss that hated you, also if you ended a job on bad terms like you were fired or you quit without a two week notice I wouldn’t put that old employer down. Another thing people like to do is put there parents down as a reference don’t do that the employer knows obviously if you put a family member down they will know that they will say good things about you regardless. Always put a coworker or boss someone that knows your good work ethic you could use a friend you worked with those work best because they will put in a good word for you. After...

Creating a Cover Letter and Resume For IT Careers

Writing a resume By Joshua Milosz   The first thing you need to do when writing a resume or a cover letter is to find a good resume, cover letter generator to get started. You want to find one because it will give you a template to put information on. You will fill out information like your accomplishments, what school you graduated from and your certifications. After you fill all of that out all that it will show you what it should look like. Now that you know what it looks like and what columns to put you write your own. First you should put your contact information like your emails, phone numbers and address. It should have columns on the resume like accomplishments, educations, references, and certifications so the employer knows a little about you. First thing you will want to put is your skills, what are you good at. Put everything you can that is true about you the employer will like to know what you are good at, so they know where to put you. Now you will want to put your work experience down. This Is very important put every job you ever had the more information on your work experience the better. No matter where you worked it matters to put it on the resume regardless if it has nothing to do with the job you are applying for. You will want to tell your position at each job especially if it was a management job. Next you will need to list your education. You will need to put what school and what year...
