Jail Breaking iPhone. Is It Worth It?

iOS devices are notorious for being form factor.  Apple is very protective of their vision, which is why jail breaking even became a thing in the first place.  The customization options for the iPhone are minimal, and it makes the smartphone user absolutely nuts.  Jail breaking is a risky decision, but boy, is it rewarding.  Here are the steps to jailbreak your iPhone with iOS 8.1.4 or earlier. TaiG This is the program needed, and will do majority of the work for you.  Clicking on the link above, you will be taken to the website of TaiG, a group of programmers specifically designed to develop jail break software.  The first step is to click what download link suits your machine. [Windows or Mac] Upon installation, you will want to follow the guide provided here.  The interface provided throughout is very user friendly, and the install wizard makes the process a lot easier to do.  After installing, you will have to turn of the password on your device if you have one.  You will also have to turn off Find My iPhone if you have it installed.  Then simply press the jailbreak option. Your device will turn on and off several times throughout, and the setup wizard will notify you when it is completed. [Shown below] After the phone is completely jail broken, you can now access the built in app named Cydia. This is where you will make all modifications to your phone, whether it be aesthetic or software altering.  Be wary of any modifications to core software as it can make the phone unstable.  When the phone becomes unstable,...

Grow in Your Career: Career Path for Mobile Device Repair Technician

With each passing day, more and more smart phones are sold. From young teenagers with their first phone, to adults getting upgrade after upgrade. Each phone sale has one thing in common. All phones are fragile pieces of electronic equipment; and they break easily. Squaretradeblog.com estimates that 30% of iPhone users have damaged their phone in the last 12 months. That’s 3 out of every 10 people crack their screen EVERY YEAR!! But what is sad news for them is happy news to the cell phone repair guy. Even if you know nothing about cell phone repair, you can find everything you need on YouTube. I personally have hundreds of cell phone repair videos posted on my YouTube Channel JerryRigEverything. (Other popular cell phone repair channels are Le55ons and iFixityourself.) With a small investment in tools, you can soon become the neighborhood tech guru. Whether you repair phones locally, online, for friends, family, or for profit, there are some essential tools you need for the job.   Here are the links for the tools that I personally have in my arsenal: A Universal Smart Phone tool kit. I’ve used this exact tool kit for over a year now with zero issues. The little pry tools that come with it are pretty much useless, but the actual screw driver bits themselves, work great with android phones as well as iPhones. (The tool kit even comes with the special Penta lobe screw driver that is needed to open up any iPhone.) Isopropyl Alcohol this is the magic solution that helps restore water damaged phones. The first step to repair ANY liquid...

Game Console Repair

Game consoles have become a huge industry in today’s world. There is a lot of competition between the major manufacturers. These would be Sony who makes the PlayStation 4, Microsoft who has the Xbox One and then Nintendo who owns the Wii U. Every few years each manufacturer makes a new version of these systems with better hardware. This event becomes a big deal for everyone who plays video games. Even though there is a lot of work and effort put into designing and manufacturing these new systems, they can still break or have problems. A few years ago, almost everyone who owned an Xbox 360 had heard of the red ring of death. This problem would sometimes happen to systems with no warning. This issue would show itself by having the normal green power rings that signified that the machine was up and running, suddenly turn red and start flashing. This was accompanied by complete system failure. This issue was reported by some to affect as many as 54% of all Xbox’s in circulation.   In the current generation of game consoles there is still the possibility of technical issues showing their ugly face. For the PlayStation 4 the Top 4 reported problems are: The console randomly turning off by itself; having no audio or video even when plugged in correctly; the PS 4 randomly freezing at different times; and reporting some sort of problem with the disk drive. This is not to say that the Xbox One has not had its share of problems. The good news is now the consumer has an option for fixing their...
