  • How will cross platform work within company

-iPad and laptops can still exist within workplace because of the cloud-based technology that is available on the devices. Any work that is done on these devices can be pulled from the cloud.

-The cross-platform technology will enhance the experience in the workplace.

  • Employees

-57 Employees

-Total price of phones: $56,943.00

  • GSuite applications

-Cost for service: 3 Plans are available, but I suggest the business package that is $10 a month.

-Enhanced office suite with unlimited storage and archiving

-Applications include:

-Connect: Business email through Gmail, Video and voice conferencing, Secure team messaging, and Shared calendars

-Create: Documents, spreadsheets, and presentations

-Access: Unlimited cloud storage (or 1TB per user if fewer than 5 users), Smart search across G Suite with Cloud Search

-Control: 24/7 support by phone, email, and online, Security and administration controls, Archive and set retention policies for emails and chats, eDiscovery for emails, chats, and files, and Audit reports to track user activity

  • Deployment process

-How fast to complete in 1 day: It is highly unlikely to set up all phones for 57 employees. All phones will need a certificate installed to have our mobile device management service working. To get 57 phones all set up it would take approximately 4 days.

-What help is needed: If we can accumulate enogh employees to help set up the phones the process could be completed in 1 day. We need at least 5 employees to start of with. If more employees are available than a day 1 deployment could be possible.

-Computers Update: No major updates need to be installed on the computer besides the mobile device management software.

  • Printing options

-A printer with WIFI enabled with be enough to handle printing in the workplace.

  • MS Exchange vs Gmail accounts

-Since we will be using GSuite, Gmail will be our email solution. Gmail is very convenient and simple to manage with many options.

-MS Exchange seems to have more of a learning curve and spam filtering would have to managed more frequently. This option does not seem ideal.

  • Mobile device management option

-VMware AirWatch Green Management Suite

-This mobile device management solution was an editor’s choice solutions and offers many features.

-VMware AirWatch Green Management Suite key features listed on their website:

“-Allow employees to easily enroll their devices

-Support employee, corporate-owned and shared devices

-Enable secure access to corporate resources while maintaining employee privacy

-Integrate with existing enterprise infrastructure

-Central console to manage devices, apps, and content

-Distribute, update, track and recommend apps”

-This mobile device solution costs: $53.56

  • Support users from all locations (Milwaukee, Chicago, St Lois and Indianapolis)

-How many employees needed to support users: Not many since VMware’s mobile device management is simple to manage. Approximately one department 5-10 people.

-Tasks: We would need IT employees for support, so these devices can function properly at any time.

  • Duration and cost of effort

-If we have 5-10 people helping with the deployment of the phones, the process could take less than 5 days. The process isn’t overly complicated but with the number of phones that need to be set up, the time could be difficult to manage. With the phones (999.00) plus GSuite business plan ($10.00) plus VMware AirWatch Green Management Suite ($53.56), the total comes to $1,062.56

  • Testing

-Make sure everything is functional, test all features and make sure they integrate well with the company’s technology.

-Testing on small scale: Test phones, mobile device management software, and employees google accounts. Testing this on a small scale with speed up the process for full deployment. Making sure everything works before deploying the phones will cause less stress for IT department for when the full deployment happens.

  • Automate deployment options: VMware AirWatch Green Management Suite will help apply all the correct settings for each phone.
  • Timeline:
  1. Purchase Phones: 2-5 days for shipping
  2. Purchase GSuite and VMware AirWatch Green Management Suite: 1 day
  3. Start testing stage. Once phones have arrived, set up 5 phones by installing GSuite applications and the VMware AirWatch Green Management Suite certificate. Apply the correct settings to the phone. Apply the correct settings on VMware AirWatch Green Management Suite: 1 day
  4. After testing phones for 4 days, re configure settings that might have been missed or get ready for deployment: 4 days
  5. Start deployment: 1-5 days

Total time: 10-16 days
