Deploy latest version of iPhone XS Max to employees of Medium size company in Milwaukee

Planning to deploy mobile devices to companies on an Enterprise corporate level takes a lot of work, time and preparation. The typical tasks are configuring, managing and securing those devices. You need also to streamline the enrollment processes and standardize which devices are being used and setup for effective controls. One thing about deploying mobile devices is the ability to strategize how to utilize Mobile Device Management (MDM) and End-Point Security (EPS). Both the MDM and EPS will play a huge role on deploying that involves thousands of devices. For this project the goal is to deploy the latest version of IPhone which is XS Max to employees and the size of the company is Medium size and it will be based out of Milwaukee.

Model of the Device planning to use for deployment

Since the infrastructure of the environment will be corporate and employee based. The Organization owned will be the type of ownership that will be used. This type of ownership really suits well and fits the needs of the organization. There is also an option for a User-owned devices but this only applies when an employee is bringing his or her own devices. This is what is called BYOD (Bring Your Own Devices). Regardless of the model of deployment, it is mandatory to apply a Mobile Device Management (MDM) process for all the devices. Part of the MDM process is enabling the device, non-personalize, enforce corporate compliance, manages the data, resources, profile settings, applications and etc.

What is the configuration of the device? What is the price of the configuration you have selected?

The configuration will be installed on each user’s profile using an MDM application. It will be $110 per device.

Are you planning to purchase cases for the devices? What are the associated costs?

Yes, purchasing cases for the devices will be a good investment and protection. The price for the Silicone Case – Black is $39.00 with free shipping.

Are you planning to purchase warranty for the devices? What are the associated costs?

Yes, also for added protection as well. The AppleCare+ will be $199.00 for each device for 24 months warranty.

What are the costs of provider cell services per device per month?

The device will be purchase unlocked so there will be no cost for any cell provider but select for any cell provider.

Are you planning to purchase backup services to backup devices in the cloud?

Yes, IPhone has backup services over the cloud storage called ICloud. The storage plan starts at $2.99 for 200GB.

Can employees be using device only or would then need to continue to use Laptops and iPads at the same time. What are the implications of this?

The employees can bring their devices and this follows the rule of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy but should be setup with an MDM (Mobile Device Management). The purpose of the MDM is to streamline and make the handling of all devices all in one platform.

What are the applications installed for tablet devices needled for employees (assume MS Office 365, and 10 business applications). Associated costs?

Microsoft Office 365 E5 plan is $35.00 per month for each user and this includes all Office applications and services.

How would you the rollout of devices to users? How many people would you need to receive new devices in one day? Describe all preparation activities (could be as long as needed, leading to the one day upgrade of the computers – to avoid productivity issues in the office)

It will be distributed evenly to users. Since there is only 57 users it will not be an issue for deployment. The preparation activities will be Set up, Deploy and Manage. The people will be deploying the devices will be working closely with the users for the whole process.

Would people need to print from the device? Research printing options from devices – do you need to plan to purchase a new printer

There is option for iPhone called AirPrint where they can print wirelessly from the device. Bluetooth printers are also a practical option for printing out from a physical printer.

Email configuration on tablet devices: MS Exchange vs Gmail accounts (document pros and cons)

The Email configuration will be MS Exchange since the users will be enterprise environment. MS Exchange is more secured and can be connect to Office 365.

Select tool for remote device management? What are the tools available for remote management of the devices as System Administrator (i.e. Cisco Meraki). Which ones are you planning to use?

The ideal MDM application for iOS would be the Apple Configurator. IPhone can enroll in the device enrollment program using Apple Configurator.

Do you need to train users on how to use devices?

Yes, there will be a user initial and on-going training.

Do you need to train support center on how to support users, using devices?

Yes, this is standard for this mobile deployment to maintain, manage and support the users who are using their devices. There will be a training center for support and this is where they come if they have any problem or issues with the devices.

How would you be supporting users: users are located in Milwaukee, Chicago, St Lois and Indianapolis. How many people would you need to complete the deployment on your project team? What would be roles of the resources?

There will be group of people who are based out of Milwaukee, Chicago and St. Lois and Indianapolis. 5 on each location will be sufficient enough. They will focus and work on getting the deployment, maintaining and supporting the project.
