iOS devices are notorious for being form factor.  Apple is very protective of their vision, which is why jail breaking even became a thing in the first place.  The customization options for the iPhone are minimal, and it makes the smartphone user absolutely nuts.  Jail breaking is a risky decision, but boy, is it rewarding.  Here are the steps to jailbreak your iPhone with iOS 8.1.4 or earlier.

After the phone is completely jail broken, you can now access the built in app named Cydia. This is where you will make all modifications to your phone, whether it be aesthetic or software altering.  Be wary of any modifications to core software as it can make the phone unstable.  When the phone becomes unstable, it will continually crash into safe mode.  This is a fail safe to prevent the phone from completely breaking.  When you encounter issues like this, troubleshoot them within the safe mode boot. [Google is your best friend]  I also recommend installing CrashReporter from Cydia [Simply search CrashReporter] it will notify you of any crashes, and the main suspects that caused it.

Repositories – Where to find all the cool modifications within Cydia, and reputable install links.

Google reliable repositories to find the ones that are still prominent and not obsolete. Below are the ones I currently have installed.  When accessing these you can find pretty much any modification imaginable, and links that aren’t dead.

What can be done with a jail broken device?

The possibilities are pretty endless.  Aesthetically speaking, you will never run out of ways to change the look of your phone.  There are countless tweaks that can be slightly altered to yield exactly what you want.  It all depends how in-depth you plan on going.  That being said, your best bet is to look into the best tweaks available for your iOS version.  Below I will include some pictures of my device to show the possibilities.  Jail breaking your device is something you should definitely consider if you’re tired of the same old iPhone and iOS.  In my personal opinion, it is totally worth it.  My phone seems individual to me now, rather than universal like everyone else’s.  It adds character to your device, which is unheard of with an Apple phone.
